We will attempt to use a free web conferencing system to
"meet" online next week instead of meeting face-to-face. In addition, we will
explore the use of a collaborative online word processor.
The programs we will use include:
Online activities are scheduled at
several different times
during the week of June 23 to June 27. The TENTATIVE schedule it to have 30
minute online sessions on the days and times shown below.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Only 3 people can participate in an online meeting at one time
so it will be necessary for you to email me (at:
brobin@uh.edu) to let me know which day and time you are able to
participate. When I have received confirmation messages from you, I will update
the schedule below to let you know which slots are no longer available.

Please try to participate in ONE of the online class sessions, even if for
only part of the time to see if the online options work on your computer.
You will not need to sign up for an account since you can join an online meeting
as a guest. And you do not need to download and install any software to
participate except for the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player,
which may already be installed on your computer. You can get the free Flash
Player from here:

You may also need the following software if it has not already been installed on
the computer you will be using for the online class sessions:
Hands-On Assignment:
During the two week period when we did not meet
face-to-face, most students in the course participated in an online video
conferencing session. We used Adobe ConnectNow to "meet" online and explored
features such as a whiteboard, uploading and downloading files, using a
text-based chat system and sharing audio and video via webcams. Plus we
attempted to use the collaborative word processing application, Adobe
Buzzword, in which several authors can simultaneously work on a multimedia
document that includes text, images, comments and hyperlinks.
For this assignment, please go to the CUIN 7376m blog at:
http://cuin7376m.blogspot.com/ and post a comment under the Class
Four/Five Assignment, in which you describe your reaction to these online
sessions, including what you most liked about the experience, what you felt
could have been better and whether or not you would like to see us use more
of these kinds of tools used later in this semester and/or in future
courses.
